Name: Moira
Age: Thirty, or so nearly thirty it probably doesn't matter
Stuff About Me: I'm a full-time employee at a university, a wife and a mother of a beautiful two-year-old girl who is currently discovering the joys of the word "No." I'm also a wannabe writer who dreams of publishing her own novel one day.
On Procrastination: I've always procrastinated, for as long as I can remember. In fact, I don't really understand how I managed to graduate from high school, let alone college, with the kind of study habits I had, which was so close to nil that I flat out don't recall a single moment spent studying. I'd like to say I got my habit from my dad, but that would be horribly unfair to him. My dad is a disciplined, hard-working and intelligent man who just happens to drag his feet every time my mom asks him to work on some household chore. But nevermind where I got this habit, I just want to end it, that's all. It's playing heck with the rest of my life.
Just want to say hello and I wish you all the best to the rest of you guys.

household chores
Hi Moira,
welcome! The description of your Dad, and your study habits, all fits on me 100%, too :).
/ Well, today I managed to check off quite a lot of the household chores in just half a day, so I hope that doesn't requalify me to just a "wannabe procrastinator" :) /
Nice to meet you
Wow, congratulations on the household chores thing. Good for you, you are hereby promoted to "wannabe procrastinator." Or demoted. Or...or, oh I don't know, I'm getting a bit confused. Anyway, hi yourself and maybe one day we'll both figure out the mystery of our barely-there study habits. ^__^
I have thought and wondered
I have thought and wondered to the reason and the solution to this enigma of procratination. Maybe we are just old souls who have come to the realization that all we do in this life has no real bearing or purpose and that the only real truth is simplicity of living and through procrastination we unconsciously rebel and defy that which is "expected" of us. Or we are bipolar or disinterested. The only solution I have found is to take a deep breath, smile at myself (you gotta keep a sense of humor), and talk myself into doing something society would deem acceptable and responsible, then slip back into my daydream. I'll talk more later.
purpose of life
Truly so, I can imagine that might be a reason for quite a few.
Rebelion, too, is a common reason.
Strangely, for people on the path, for those who found a purpose in life, who found what rings true to them, procrastination is almost non-existant. They do what they love, they are drawn into that, there is not hesitation.
Now if only would it be that simple...."just" to find out the life purpose, just decide for that one thing that would ring true.
I for one have to admit, I didn't ..... yet.
purpose in life
How does one go about discovering one's purpose in life, anyway? Or why one procrastinates, for that matter?
Life purpose
That's probably a topic for many long books.
Meditation. Careful observation of own feelings and emotions. Following your intuition and gut feelings. Reviewing what you loved and hated to do in the past, even in the childhood.
