[/b]hello i am new here, i am a 26 yr old procrastinator & have not slept today browsing the internet to find motivating info; stumbled into this site & here i am. kinda feel like AA saying: "hi, i am a procrastinator"... i can't study for a big test i have. my room is ALWAYS messy (there's no walking space). i feel weak. and i sleep an average of 14-16 hours a day. i am ashamed & tired of being this way. i find myself dreaming & planning & replanning, but i don't get it done. i just want to know real advice; what has helped you ppl.... & since when did you start being procrastinators... i mean, this has started for me since 5 yrs ago.... HELP!
i'm a procrastinator too. every few months i make some kind of push to stop being this way, but it's really difficult.
things that help.. reading about it and acknowleding you have a problem. actually taking the steps that are advised in order to make a change.
if your room is messy i'm sure that is a MAJOR source of procrastination, not just in cleaning, but in other areas. you could just start with 10 min a day cleaning a portion of the room. just give yourself 10 min and then you can stop after that if you want. if it is too daunting, dont be afraid to ask for help. If you have a friend or relative help you clean it up, then you will feel like such a weight is lifted off of your shoulders and you have energy and motivation to do other things.
i also use a planner that has a to-do list in it. every day i write down little things i have to do, even if it's as simple as "get the mail" and once it's done i get to check it off the list. it feels great to put a check mark next to a completed task and it helps give me motivation to do more.
once you begin to start smaller tasks you will realize that no job is too big.
good luck. keep us posted with how you are doing.
14-16 hours of sleep...well...I would check with your doctor whether you are healthy, and consult good psychologist whether you are not suffering some mental condition (depression ?).
First step change your lifestyle to a more healthy one in an effort to cut down on sleep and to increase the level of energy during the day hours.
