I have only been poking around here for around an hour and already I have ordered two recommended books, signed up on a "buddy" to-do list site, bookmarked a "timer" site, and read many posts. I never realized that there was so much information and help on this topic! Thanks. =) Glenna
Hi Glenna,

glad to see someone posting after longer quiet period, good posts!
Almost a week after your post, I hope you are already further on your road to better results!
I appreciate your feedback. I am hoping to get a handle on this problem as it has affected every part of my life. I am not sure whether the anxiety or the depression is worse. I am putting together a plan to stick to, as you suggested, for better or worse, including a "check in" list forum. I seem to be able to do the forum list thing every other day or so with at least partial success. Thanks, again, for your support!

Glenna
If it's anxiety or depression, treat them. They often lead to procrastination, but it make sense to treat the root of the cause, procrastination might disappear.

Apart from the obvious "go see the psychologist" which is a kind of alibistic advice, I had good results with:
- relaxation exercises (especially anything where you go to so called alpha level of brain frequency)
- tea from St. John's wort for mild depression
- sun light (my home office is in a rather dark room, that's depressive, so I try to go outdoors as often as possible, and changed the furniture layout in the room so that more light gets in)

There are many other ways I'm sure. Just preferrably treat the anxiety and depression first, procrastination might as well take care of itself right after.
Hi, again,

Thank you for the suggestions. I would prefer to try natural methods, such as those you mentioned, rather than rely on meds. I do meditation, though not as regularly as I would like. When I first started decades ago, I would get "monkey brain", if you know what I mean. Now when I close my eyes, I am immediately flooded with warmth and strength. If that would only last past the time I meditated, I'd be good!

I am vegetarian and am currently drinking protein shakes and Emergen-C drinks to supplement my meals (or sometimes lack thereof). I will have to add the SJW tea! I took St. John's Wort in '97-'98. Then, my doctor prescribed Prozac and Wellbutrin after my marriage broke up and my mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I quit those meds recently, though, and have no major side effects.

I am trying to get outdoors more. The sunlight really does help!!!

My best to you. Get well!
Glenna
